How to Use an Espresso Machine
Step 1:
Open the water tank and add water, making sure to screw the lid back on tightly when done. Leaving the lid on too loosely can keep the machine from creating the necessary pressure.
Step 2:
Twist to unlock and remove the porta-filter (handle with filter cup).
Step 3:
Add 1 tablespoon of ground coffee per cup of desired espresso. The coffee should be ground finely.
Step 4:
Twist to replace the porta-filter, making sure that it is locked back in place securely.
Step 5:
Place either the carafe that comes with the machine or a demi-tasse cup under the spout.
Step 6:
Turn on the machine, and "pull your shot" (espresso talk for brewing). Some machines give you various options to change the length of the cycle, but a basic machine will simply have a single setting.
Step 7:
Pour into your demi-tasse cup and enjoy.
